What Kind of Computers Did Mac Buyers Have?!

As part of our exploration of the original Apple product line, we continue to analyze Mac laptop and desktop customers. Our curiosity about iPhone and Android operating systems led us to ask about Mac, PC, and Chromebook computers. As it turns out, there is something of a customer pipeline from PC and Chromebook to Mac.

Interestingly and even a little surprising, owners of Windows-based PCs make up a relatively significant proportion of Mac customers, at around one-third of Mac buyers last year (Chart 1).
